forma lms as a micro service

Post by elpg »

Hi all,

New to the forum !

I was wondering how we can configure forma lms to use a microservice methodology. I would like to design it so that when a user launches a course, a micro service is launched within a container and their training course is delivered through this container - is this possible natively through forma lms or is it on the roadmap?

I don't know what a microservice is, but you can build your scorms with just a an empty launcher that pulls the content from a remote server. That is one possible solution.

Other solutions I guess imply using the LTI standard which is currently not supported, although sometimes we've been asked to provide it

Thanks for the response !

So basically, I am expecting to have a large number of users (12,000) using the lms, but they won't always be using it all the time. So I want to run forma lms on it's own server, but when the demand for the video increases, I want to scale up the server. What options do I have to do this ?

Ok, so you're not talking about scorms but in general about the infrastructure.
Well, we're currently managing a project with 17.000 users that will grow to 39.000. We have many others installations with thousands of users, from a few thousands to 25.000.
We have our own cloud infrastructure with autoscaling, load balancer and all the necessary resources to ensure that everything runs smoothly. What you need is a robust and finely tuned infrastructure.
