Competency Scoring Question

Hi everyone.

I hope you are well.
I am having some difficulty with competency scoring and was hoping someone could help, here is what i have done:
1) I have created competencies
2) I have created a Company Role
3) I have linked the role to an org structure node, and the competencies (minimum score requirement is 100 for each)
4) I have created a course shell and linked the course to the competency from course management
5) I have created an assessment with a pass mark of 100 points.
6) I have set the feedback manager to assign 100 points for a competency, if the user attains 100 points for the assessment (from 100 to 100 give 100 for said competence).

However, when I complete the assessment as the student, it gives me 200 (sometimes 300) points.

Am I doing something wrong?

Hi, welcome on board

Probably you took the course several times.
The competencies scores are cumulative, so every time you complete the same course (or different courses giving points for the same competence, wich would be the correct situation), the new score will be added to the previous one.
So, you need to find the best test and course configurations for your situation.
Also, a user can't lose the competence points he achieved.

Hi Alberto

Thanks for the reply. I managed to figure out where I went wrong.
I assigned the competency to the course shell (from course management) and allocated a score of 100.
I then allocated the competency with a score of 100 again from the front end using feedback management.
I set the assessment as the end object marker and bookmarked it to final (which ends and locks the course).

So what happened is that by completing the assessment, the score went through twice (once from feedback manager and once from the end object marker).

I simply removed the score from the competency in course management and all is working and scoring perfectly.

Thanks Max - so is there anyway of setting it up so the users give themselves an initial score for their competencies so we can then priorities training etc.
